| 5 / 5 | Not the same as other Chefs
Robert P. Splaine "mrbobsltd" (pattaya) - 9 July 2008 These recipes really do work. My family have been cooking Asian food for 15 years, and over that time, have accumulated many Chinese cook books. There are no silly recipes in here. Just quick and easy. The Chow Mein was plain sailing. I had never seen a version of sweet n sour cooked like the recipe, but it was so tasty. I like the way Ching explains which sauces are essential in her cupboard collection. There are no recipes which tell you to marinate for 24 hours. Its all NOW, and that is life.... If you have one Chinese cook book in your collection, make sure it's this one, and ...impress friends with your cooking. Ching makes it look easy, and it is!!... Read Full Review » |
| 5 / 5 | Another great book from Ching-He Huang
C. Platt - 5 July 2008 After buying Ching's first book (China Modern) last year, I had high expectations for this book. I have to say it does not disappoint. Don't be put off by the healthy part in the title, it should just simply say "tasty recipes" |
| 5 / 5 | Easy eating
Mr. P. J. Kimberlee (shrewsbury) - 16 July 2008 As a big fan of chinese food I had high expectations of this book. I wasn't dissapointed. Fantastic chinese recepies all laid out with simple step by step instructions. I'm not skilled in the kitchen by any means and one of the best things about this book is that it really makes tasty chinese food accessible to anyone. A great accompaniment to the tv series. |
| 3 / 5 | Singapore Style Noodles
J E Kelly - 12 August 2008 We have made a number of dishes from this new publication, however, when it came to cooking the Singapore Style Noodles we found the recipe quantities to be incorrect. Specifically the amount of Tumeric reads as 1-2 Tablespoons and the amount of Vermicelli Noodles ( for 2 people) reads as 250grms/9oz.Having cooked the dish it became very apparent that these quantities are wrong. After research it would appear that the correct quantities should read 1-2 Teaspoons of Turmeric and half the quantity of Vermicelli Noodles. This needs correcting. On a positive note the other recipes tried to date have been very successful and we have enjoyed them.... Read Full Review » |
| 5 / 5 | An essential for anyone who loves cooking
Joanne C - 23 July 2008 After seeing the first episode of her new BBC series, I bought the book as I love cooking and Chinese food, but had always been apprehensive about making it at home. Excellent step by step instructions, and a wealth of recipes of wonderfully tasty food. A great companion to the series. |
