| 5 / 5 | Got it same day as THE Game
J. Cooper "there's no pleasing Ian..." (UK/Australia) - 1 May 2008 I have bought guides in the past, but this guide is certainly the biggest and most indepth...You may have your reason for buying a guide, mine is that I have limited time (family/job etc) to fuel a long standing game's addiction and I simply don't have the time for frustration...I am not a stats Nazi, nor am I in a hurry to complete the game, but if YOU are, fine, this guide is for you too... Every mission is well covered and illustrated in the guide, every sub-mission, every girlfriend, friend etc.etc. Everything you need to a) avoid frustration b) be a stats Nazi c) complete all the missions/ get 100% completion / copulate with 5 women (although not at the same time)etc there is also a brief multiplayer guide which has a few tips. This guide probably won't help you rule the online games...only serious practice leading to possible RSI can do that... Its a thick guide with a big bonus map thats more detailed than the one that comes with the game, and the guide even has pictures aswell as descriptions of all the flying rat/stunt jumps. It has pretty much everything you'd need from a guide except it won't update itself when new content comes out, but it does exactly what it says on the tin... in discussion I will try and answer queries, but really you might aswell just buy it...... | 3 / 5 | Lacking small details
T. Jones (Dartmoor, UK) - 5 May 2008 All this guide seems to have is a main mission walkthrough and a few handy maps at the back. Which is great, but I feel it should contain more. I would've like to see a complete vehicle list and good locations to find them. The profiles on the main characters are a bit thin on details. There are no maps showing the locations of the 'Easter Eggs' (Heart of Liberty City etc.) and secret details. I do like the mini guides to help you find all the stunts and flying rats though. On the whole a good purchase, but it seems to have been rushed through to come out in time with the game. I bet Prima could've have done better.... Read Full Review » |
| 2 / 5 | Not worth the cash
Mr. P. Taylor "ch0ppa" - 11 May 2008 If I knew this was going to be just a walkthrough of the main game (which, apart from the flying rat and jump guide it pretty much is) then I wouldn't have bothered. You can find better walkthoughs online. I bought this expecting it to have pics of the cars so you could identify them and more detailed info on the rest of the city. There is only one pull out map and that's just the basic city with the same info on that you get with the game itself. It would have been better to have the weapon, armour and health maps as pull outs too. From the thanks at the back of the guide I think the writers spent too much time being pampered in New York and drinking Maker's Mark than playing through the game and thinking how to structure their guide well. Simply looking at Brady's Vice City Guide first would have been a start. Waste of money. Only gets an extra star for the layout and pics inside which are nicely laid out. Shame about the content. ... | 5 / 5 | GTA IV STRATERGY GUIDE
Joshua "Eisy" (Ireland) - 6 May 2008 First of all i had to give it 5 stars. this is what you need if you wish to complete the game 100% and i mean 100%, the book is fully detailed with hiden weapons, and small objecties and gives you a brief idea about the characters. Also for the xbox 360 it tells you how to complete your 50 acheivments. Thumbs UP! |
| 5 / 5 | I agree with J cooper - a great guide
megamarble "dlb008" (South Yorks, UK) - 1 May 2008 nearly 300 pages filled with details to help you on the missions adn help you find the missing items and the unique stunt jumps. I tried a mission last night called 'snow storm' where i had to collect soem drugs from some bad guys. I kept dying :( So read the guide and it showed me where some armour was nearby and also where a speedboat was so i could escape my 3 stars wanted level. Tried it again and succeeded first time :) Highly recommended for the casual gamer wanting to get more from this excellent game... Read Full Review » |
