| 5 / 5 | Another brilliant book from Katie Fforde
Bridget O (UK) - 3 June 2008 A wonderful story of 3 women who become friends because they all spend time making other people's wedding day perfect. The story revolves around Sarah, the wedding organiser, who doesn't want to believe in love. This has all the usual Katie Fforde wit and sense of humour, with 3 gorgeous heroes to fall in love with. So easy to lose yourself in the story - left me smiling all day. |
| 5 / 5 | Light 'n breezy
William the Almost Great "Barbizon" (Cork) - 19 June 2008 WEDDING SEASON IS THE perfect summer read, or perfect read for anytime of the year. I rank this right up there with THIS CHARMING MAN and THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES. This is story of Sarah, Bron, and Elsa who seem to have the knack of pulling off the perfect weddings and organizing everything . . . but their own lives. The contrast between their Swiss-watch perfection in making other's dreams come true, and the funny events that ruin and run their own lives is refreshing and somehow real-life-like. The dialogue is great and the characters are three dimensional. What was the one thing I didn't like about WEDDING SEASON? I couldn't put it down.... Read Full Review » |
| 5 / 5 | Katie Fforde at her sparkling best
Damaskcat (UK) - 4 June 2008 This is one of Katie Fforde's best books in my opinion. I have been slightly disappointed with her last few but this has all the wit and sparkle of her early books. Sarah, Bron and Elsa all work together to make weddings perfect for other people. Their own love lives are harder to organise. The background is excellent with lots of information about all the things which go into making the perfect wedding and what can go wrong at the last minute A feel good romp with brilliant dialogue. There is a better balance between dialogue and description with this book than there has been in previous books from this author. I absolutely loved it and was sad to finish it.... | 2 / 5 | Not The Best
The Duchess (England) - 21 June 2008 After reading all of Katie Ffordes book except Going Dutch I was really looking forward to Wedding Season and I could'nt wait to finish it, unfortunatly for all of the wrong reasons. The 3 main women of the story are all flat and I could not connect with any of them, they all seemed too good to be true to turn their hands to every little emergency that popped up. The "love stories" were sign posted a mile off and were boring and predictable and everything just seemed too convinient and happened far too easily. Too much detail about the wedding and not enough detail of the people and places. Very dissapointed.... Read Full Review » |
| 3 / 5 | It was okay, but...
MBG Bookworm (California, USA) - 18 June 2008 ...kind of boring! Not enough characterization for me. More time was spent on the wedding preparations than on the relationships between the characters. This book was considerably better than the last one, which I was never able to finish, but a loooooong stretch away from Thyme Out (my fav) or Life Skills or Stately Pursuits or The Rose Revived. I seem to be reading a lot of authors who are cutting way back on the romance elements with their latest books (Mary Kay Andrews, Mercedes Lackey, and now Katie Fforde.) Does anyone out there know why? It is disappointing to me - especially since I buy their books because they do it so well.... Read Full Review » |
