| 1 / 5 | HDMI Cable V1.3 (PS3) from 4Gamers
Mr. P. M. Mcdiarmid "P.McD" (W. Sussex, UK) - 9 July 2007 Bought a PS3, 4Gamers HDMI cable .etc.from Amazon, and plugged into a Sony Bravia TV and it got no signal on the TV's HDMI channel. It was OK if you reverted to the AV/SCART cable supplied with PS3. Suspected cable so arranged for Amazon to replace it, which they did with admirable efficiency. Unfortunately this did not cure the problem either and started to suspect either the PS3 or the TV. Contacted Playstation helpline and they talked me through various startup sequences and holding standby button until 2nd beep etc. for soft reboot, but still no fix, they then suggested trying to get access to another HDMI TV, but that was not an easy option. On a whim noticed another manufacturers HDMI cable whilst out shopping and bought that and plugged it in and that worked fine. So returned this 2nd cable to Amazon and asked for a refund. Have now read the Amazon customer reviews on this product and now understand why it does not work. The plastic moulding around the cable connectors is too bulky and prevents the cable being pushed fully home into the TV HDMI port which is in a recess. Others have got around this by trimming off the plastic moulding around the cable, but it is thought that this is a case of poor design and should not be necessary. Judging by other reviewers this issue seems to occur not just with Sony Bravia TV's, but also with Bush TV's as well. My recommendation is that before buying this cable check your TV's HDMI port. If it is mounted in a recess do not buy this cable or be prepared to trim off the plastic around the cable's connector. ... Read Full Review » |
| 1 / 5 | If you've got a Sony Bravia Panel run away from this item
M. Sutton "Martin" (Herne Bay, Kent UK) - 24 March 2007 I ordered this lead when i ordered my PS3 console from Amazon I have attempted to fit this lead in place on my Sony Bravia 40" LCD panel and lo and behold due to the Brunel scale of engineering present on the connector ends and the recessed HDMI ports on the TV it doesn't seat properly thus is no good! I'm sure that this is a great cable if you are using it on a system without recessed HDMI ports but forget it if you have a Bravia! or equipment with recessed HDMI ports.... Read Full Review » |
| 1 / 5 | check your tv first
H. Tregidgo - 24 March 2007 i personally have been disappointed with this. Mainly because i havent been able to use it. i found that, although it fits perfectly in my ps3, the large plastic casing surrounding the connector prevented it from fitting in the sony bravia i was trying to connect. therefore i would just suggest checking that your hdmi port is not depressed if not this may be a good cable for you but otherwise this is a pointless buy. |
| 1 / 5 | What a waste of Money
C. Hurry - 27 March 2007 I brought this product for my Husbands PS3 only to find that it can not be used with our Sony Bravia TV, he was very dissapointed as would anyone be. I cant see how this would of been given 5 stars when you would have to CUT around the housing so that it would fit. Not a good idea, I would suggest on spending your money on something that WORKS correctly!!! |
| 5 / 5 | Great product
Douglas Traill (Edinburgh, Scotland.) - 6 April 2007 Used this cable to connect my PS3 to my 26" Samsung LCD TV. Had to do with the cables supplied with the PS for a couple of days while waiting for the HDMI cable to be delivered, but when it arrived the difference it made was unbelievable ! The Playstation 3 is a powerful machine, and really needs the HDMI connection to show what it is truly capable of. Whilst not noticing a massive difference in sound quality, the picture quality shows remarkable improvement. Not only is the picture sharper, but the colour is improved and really takes advantage of the Samsung's potential 12.8 billion colour pallette. If you have a PS3 and a good HD TV, then I strongly recommend this product. Note: Whilst this product works really well with my TV, earlier reviews mention compatibility problems with other models. If unsure, visit the '4gamers' website where phone and email contact details are listed for any queries you might have.... Read Full Review » |
