| 4 / 5 | Don't Listen To The Reviews!
Ralph W (Colwyn Bay, North Wales) - 8 September 2007 Having played the first few levels I have to say that this game really is quite good. The control system is very good and intuitive despite what some of the reviewers have said about it. There's a training ground for you to get to grips with the SIXAXIS flight controls which I did a couple of times. Once you get into the game proper, you're treated to some very nice cutscenes and then straight into battle. The controls are pretty easy to pick up and after a few minutes I was owning the skies on my trusty steed! I must say that I was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews but they disappeared as soon as I started playing it. Like I said, I've only played the first few levels but there seems to be some good replay value as you get awarded medals depending on how well you perform as well as new attack moves and secret unlockables. I will surely keep going back till I get all the golds and extra unlocks. You can connect online and see your world ranking and compare stats which adds a little competition to the game. For any of you wondering whether to take the plunge and get this game, I would recommend it without hesitation. So if you don't want to wait until late October when it's released in the UK, go and and import it from the US. The only question left unanswered is how long the game will take to complete but to be honest, if I get 10 hours gameplay from start to finish I'd be happy, plus there's the replay factor. So to finalise, I'm very happy with my latest purchase and it will keep me busy until Heavenly Sword arrives. So guys please don't listen to all these bad reviews as this is a really good game that just takes some getting used to the Sixaxis first or you won't enjoy it.... Read Full Review » |

Mr. D. P. Chaplin - 21 September 2007 I've played this at a mates house through a U.S import. Its a tough game and the controlls are as wonky as a sainsburys trolley. (sorry sainsburys but yours are worse than tesco :)) Being forced to use 6 axis for a game like this is a great idea but only if it works. This unfortunately does not. Graphically lovely at times, the fact that steering your dragon around is a chore make this about as much fun as watching Chelsea play football ( oh come on you Chelsea fans, your team is dull, admit it) Just a note for those of you who are enticed by the remote play option. It sounds great in thoery but remember this. By going to the remote play setting, Lair can be played on a PSP.The PS3 does the processing, and the PSP displays the game. Now, why would i play on my small psp screen when i can display this on my HD tv. Motion sensor controls are not accessible on the PSP, and in addition, the PSP also lacks L2 and R2 buttons, which are necessary for playing the game. So the remote play is a pretty pointless option then.... Read Full Review » |
| 5 / 5 | Different and yet awesome game
Mr. Daniel H. W. Jones "Gaming man Dan" (UK) - 17 November 2007 I purchased this game just a couple of days ago and yet I'm addicted already. A few people have complained about the controls but i find it a nice challenging aspect of the game. I've only completed about 10 levels so far but already really enjoy the plot, the characters, graphics and of course the gameplay itself. So to those who are not sure wether to get it or not because of people complaining about the controls give it a go! I highly recommend its very fun and like I said fairly challenging and should keep you amused for many hours as it has with me :)... Read Full Review » |

Matt Ledger (Ipswich, UK) - 3 September 2007 I don't have this game so I can't comment on that aspect but I thought I ought to just point out that this is the first game on PS3 to allow remote play, that means that if you have a PSP and a PS3 (both with the latest firmware) you can use Remote Play to play the game on the PSP! Is a pretty cool feature, would like to see it on more games! |
